Nohonani is a favorite of Honeymooners. Experience sweeping vistas of beautiful Wainiha Valley, the 5,000-foot volcanic mountain peaks of Hanalei mountains and their waterfalls, the northern slopes of the misty ridges of Koke’e, early morning rainbows and evening moon rises. Nohonani’s screened-in wrap-around lanai overlooks a 2 ¼ - acre private estate of palms, tropical flowers and fruits. The recently painted interior boasts vintage furnishings, hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, lauhala mats, and antique collectibles suggesting romantic Hawaii.
There is an outdoor Hot and Cold shower, for rinsing off after a trip to the nearby beaches or a hike down the Na Pali coast trail as well as two full bathrooms inside. King bed in bedroom. Recently upgraded with an AC unit in the bedroom.
The home is located four miles from Hanalei Bay, and just minutes from Lumahai Beach, Tunnels Beach, Ha'ena Beach, Ke’e Beach and the Na Pali Coast.
Details: a 9-foot granite dining table, 2 bathrooms, large fully screened-in lanai, laundry room, King-size bed, mirrored closets in bedroom, CD/DVD players, Cable TV.
(This rental is for the top floor of the home. The lower level normally remains empty. Owner never occupies the lower level when guests are in the house)

  Coffee every morning on the screened lanai was a joy, watching the sun rise over the mountains. The view was spectacular. Evenings on the lanai were also pleasant as the day's heat slowly cooled and the birds, bullfrogs, chickens and yes, even the dogs made themselves known. Great stocked kitchen, fans all over the house to help cool the temps, and AC in the bedroom was a big plus. We loved this house. And conveniently located from awesome beaches and markets and shops and great restaurants.

  We stayed at a unique home where you are essentially up above the forest floor and up in the treetops with a wonderful view of the valley and mountains. The screened in porch was a wonderful place to hang out. Listening to the dogs in the distance reminded us of the sled dog teams in Alaska! Very private place.

  We had a wonderful time. The screened in porch was a HUGE bonus that really allowed us to enjoy the views and relax. Check in instructions were thorough and had no issues finding the property even after dark. Could use a little work on cleanliness and some maintenance downstairs where the beach gear is. Nothing was bad enough to disturb our comfort.

  We really enjoyed our stay at Nohonani! The location was a short bike ride from Tunnels/Makua Beach and Hāʻena State Park/Kēʻē Beach. We rented bikes in Hanalei (John at Bike Doktor) and easily accessed the beaches each day (don't forget to buy your Hāʻena State Park entry passes 30 days prior).
  The house was clean and beautifully maintained. We loved the ceramics/art throughout the house and the local books/library. Our favorite spot was the screened-in lanai and the hammock - a perfect spot for reading and enjoying the mountain views.
  There are lots of sounds about - roosters (of course), beautiful bird songs, and frogs too. And yes, as other reviews have mentioned, there are sounds of numerous dogs barking - sometimes frequently and at length (all hours). The white noise machines helped counter that, as well as the A/C unit that we ran before we went to bed and we used our earplugs as well (noise-cancelling headphones work too).
  All in all, we loved our stay, we hope to return, and would definitely recommend!

  If you like to get away from people this is your place. We spent 12 nights here and spent most of our time just taking the views which are amazing. There are a few houses nearby but it is difficult to see them because of the lush environment. Would definitely stay here again.

  This was an incredibly beautiful location and a great space surrounded by lush green foliage and overlooking a pond. But be aware: there are hunting dogs next door that howl loudly day and night that we did not know about until we arrived. The one dog sets off another and they going. It was hard to talk even inside the home. I thought that they would quit - but getting a reprieve was rare. There is a lovely screened in porch but the barking made it hard to enjoy the property. The owners did provide "white noise" of waves crashing on the beach and that allowed us to sleep so I was thankful for that. I should have complained at the time but I couldn't think of how to change the neighbors. But I wanted other renters to be aware ahead of time so that they could decide if howling dogs all day and night would bother them.

  We loved staying here it was so fun watching a rain storm move across the valley laying in the hammock with the screened porch. We were also entertained with the hunting dogs (who are used for hunting the wild pigs), then the bullfrogs singing throughout the night, topped off with the roosters crowing at 5am. It made it a real Hawaiian experience. We never stay at the resorts because we want to experience an authentic place.

  What an amazing place, for those of us who love mountain views and tropical plants! View from porch was nearly 180 degrees, and beautiful at in rain and sun, lighting changing throughout the day. The porch screen kept the bugs out, adding a glorious room to this cute place. Was clean and well-appointed and had personality, like hand made pottery to dine on, interesting books about, and real artwork. Bedroom was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. Do bring earplugs of good quality to block out the serenading dogs and roosters at night, who in daytime are part of the charm! A wonderful place to feel far away from it all, yet actually pretty convenient, 15 minutes to Hanalei. One lane bridges make it even more charming. Close to Ha'ena State Park, Limahuli National Tropical Botanical Garden.

  The space is roomy, the two bathrooms were clean and having the second bathroom was very useful for my wife and I. The kitchen with well stocked with necessary supplies. The screened in porch is unlike anything I have ever seen and makes the place twice as large. The views of the Wainha Valley will blow you away. Nohonani is an amazing choice for 2-3 people with the exception of the neighbors hunting dogs barking. They will bark 24/7. The property managers do provide white noice and it is helpful. Honestly, if not for the dogs barking, this place would be twice as expensive. Its worth staying there despite the dogs.

  This home is nestled in a neighborhood, but totally visually private. Sounds of birds, frogs, dogs, and roosters, are ever-present. Green all around. Screen porch and hammock provide lovely relaxation in rain and sun. House itself is very fine. Good kitchen (although stove needed repair), decent bed, and good living room/TV. Excellent water pressure. It was clean. Located a 10 minute drive to west of Hanalei. A nice stay in a beautiful location.

  You will be away. You will be in the tropical rain forest, but minutes from beautiful beaches, the charming town of Hanalei, great hikes, botanical gardens and marine sanctuaries, resting turtles and monk seals.
  Frogs, birds, dogs, wind, geckos, rain showers, lush vegetation...you are in the tropical rainforest in your own little perch.
  This is perfectly setup for a couple, close to so many lovely beaches and adventures, but also its own remote getaway with great touches of art and comfort.

  We enjoyed ourselves very much! If you looking for City Life this is not the place for you! We are Rural Nevadans and loved it! The Second Floor Apartment is great for seeing over the Canopy of the Jungle and Mountains! Buy your Food in Lihue at Walmart, Costco, or Safeway's it is a long drive back around the Island. The Jungle Noise at night is interesting. But all in all Great Place for High Desert Rats to get out of the Snow! That week it hit -20 at home, I slept comfortably with no Blankets! The Screened in Porch/Dining Room Great for Breakfast! Oh, the Ocean Down the hill a few hundred feet and around the corner, you can't see it but on a rough winter morning you can hear it!
  It is Three weeks later now and my wife is still smiling! Winter doesn't seem as long! Oh, Kong, He could show at any time at the place!

  We had a great time at this beautiful home nestled in the rain forest. The owner is a ceramicist and the home has several gorgeous pieces of pottery/ceramics. The home is airy, thoughtfully decorated, well-equipped, and the fully screened-in wraparound lanai looks into the rainforest valley, so do expect daily rainbows! It's a short drive to some of the best beaches on the island as well as sweet little Hanalei town. It's in a traditional Hawaiian neighborhood, so expect to hear dogs barking (sometimes a lot). We loved it so much here that we reserved it again for next year!

  The Napali evergreen mountain es as backdrop are surreal.
  Walking distance to the beach.
